Gum Disease Treatments in Greenville, SC

Periodontal disease is a severe oral infection that causes more tooth loss than cavities do.

What starts off as gingivitis can quickly compound into a condition that causes problems like:

  • Gum Detachment and Recession
  • Deep Pockets Below the Gums
  • Bone Loss Around the Teeth
  • Tooth Mobility
  • Bleeding, Swelling and Pain
  • Bad Breath

Diagnosis

We screen for periodontal disease during every preventive care appointment. By measuring around the tooth to monitor gum attachment levels, we can assess areas of early gum detachment. X-rays also play a key role in pinpointing bone loss. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms listed above, please schedule an exam as soon as possible.

Non-Surgical Periodontal Disease Treatment

To avoid oral surgeries or grafting procedures, Dr. Goldston uses a non-surgical deep cleaning approach to eliminate and reverse infection. These cleanings remove the calcified tartar deposits deep below the gums, allowing the area to begin healing. Following your scaling and root planing procedure, we will recommend a maintenance visit every 3 to 4 months, until symptoms improve.

If you have a cracked tooth or chronic tooth pain, you may need a root canal. Call us today to find out more information.
